Curriculum Isn't Supposed To Do That

If homeschooling feels harder than you expected, the problem may not be your curriculum — it may be the expectations you’re placing on it. Many homeschool moms assume that if they just find the right curriculum, everything will click. Their kids will love learning. Homeschool will feel peaceful. Confidence will come naturally. But curriculum was never meant to carry that kind of weight. In this video, I’m sharing the truth behind homeschool expectations — especially the belief that children must love curriculum in order to be learning well. Not all kids enjoy school, even in a healthy home environment, and that doesn’t mean homeschool is failing. We’ll talk about: why expecting kids to love curriculum creates unnecessary pressure why learning doesn’t always feel exciting (and that’s okay) how curriculum is meant to serve your homeschool — not define it why ordinary homeschool days still count as real learning If your homeschool feels heavy right now, this video is meant to bring relief, not more pressure ⏱️ CHAPTERS 00:00 Why homeschool expectations matter 00:08 The truth behind our expectations 00:23 Wanting our kids to love curriculum 01:00 Kids don’t have to love curriculum 02:28 Learning can happen without excitement 03:45 Curriculum is a tool — not the solution 05:25 It might not be the curriculum 06:19 You’re not failing if your kids don’t like homeschool 07:40 Ordinary homeschool days are still learning days 🥳 Free homeschool downloads: https://bymandymaltz.com/freebies ➡️ Join our free Christian Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/handmadehomeschooler/ ➡️ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mandy_maltz_/ 🍎 Blog: https://www.bymandymaltz.com ➡️ Contact Me: thegracefulhomeschool@gmail.com 🔥Affiliate Links & FREE Stuff 🔥 FTC Disclosure: This site contains affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you make a purchase through those links. About This Video

If homeschooling feels heavier than you expected, I want to gently suggest that the problem may not be your curriculum—it may be the expectations you’re placing on it. In this video, I talk about the pressure so many of us carry when we assume the “right” curriculum will make everything click: our kids will love learning, our days will feel peaceful, and our confidence will magically appear. But curriculum was never meant to carry the weight of your homeschool identity or your child’s attitude. I also address a really common fear: “My kids don’t like homeschool, so I must be failing.” I don’t believe that’s true. Kids don’t have to love curriculum in order to be learning well, and learning doesn’t always feel exciting—even in a healthy, loving home. Curriculum is a tool, not a solution, and sometimes the real issue is not what you bought, but what you’re expecting it to do for you. My hope is that this brings relief: ordinary homeschool days still count as real learning days, and you can let curriculum serve your family instead of defining it.
