In this video I’m showing you exactly how I get my super flat, super long “boneless” knotless braids at home — and yes, I counted… I’ve got 100 braids in my head. They feel like there’s pretty much nothing on my scalp because I’m using such a small amount of braiding hair per braid, but you still get that really sleek, neat finish. I take you through the whole process from prepping the hair (cutting and fraying the ends because mine wasn’t pre-stretched) to my setup, parting, and the beginner-friendly braiding technique. I’m big on starting on clean, stretched hair (I washed and blow-dried first), and I’m also big on moisture because protective styles are not protective if your hair is dry and snapping. That’s why I use a twisting cream before I braid, then a tiny amount of gel to smooth each section. I also talk about the parting being what makes or breaks the style — the three-way/360 mirror helps so much for the back. Fair warning: these took me around 22 hours across a few days, but it’s so rewarding when you’re done — and the money you save is crazy. I finished with trimming (carefully, because my natural hair is shorter right now), hot water to set the ends, then mousse, scalp oil, and a little edge control for that final neat look.
