About This Video

In this update I’m sharing something that’s extra close to my heart: Grandma’s Vintage Christmas Tree. Back in the 1970’s my Grandmother hung one in her house every year, and I can still see it so clearly—St. Patrick’s green (that Red Heart Super Saver “Paddy” shade) with classic red trim, and little gold jingle bells that made it feel so magical. This video is me recording those memories and passing them along, because I really believe handmade is how we make the sweetest traditions. I originally made my first version on December 23rd, 2018… and yes, I didn’t get it hung in time for the holidays! So in July 2019, after requests on Ravelry, I went back and photo-snapped the whole process so you can follow along and make your own. The “tree” is built from simple granny squares, and then you get to decorate it however you like—bells, trim, colors, all of it. If you make one, please share your memories with me on Instagram or tag me on Ravelry so I can see your version and the story you’re stitching into it.
