In this vlog I’m basically showing you what “life as a techie” looks like for me in Berlin—starting with my matcha latte, turning on all the lights (because I need to feel awake), and then planning my entire day. The biggest game changer lately has been my Google Calendar setup: I split my life into multiple color-coded calendars (work, content creation, health, relationships, startup ideas, etc.). It sounds small, but seeing everything visually makes it feel way less messy and way easier to start. Work-wise, I’m currently doing more backend than frontend, and I’m building a new endpoint with business logic that depends on other engineers’ changes. There are meetings (standup + more), PR comments to address, and the classic “wait for someone else to merge so I can pull and continue” workflow—aka why version control is basically the backbone of engineering. I also talk about how different work coding feels vs passion projects: at work it’s careful + reviewed + collaborative, and at home it’s just me, vibes, and ChatGPT. After work I switch back into creator/builder mode—checking YouTube stats, thinking about monetizing my German-speaking tool (Lex) because LLMs are expensive, and then doing real-life chores like shopping in -1°C Berlin, eating noodles + curry, and packing for travel.
