About This Video

This video is me trying to redeem myself in part two of my packing app build, because I was honestly disappointed with how little I shipped last time. The goal is simple: a web app that helps me pack based on where I’m going and how long I’m going for—plus “smart” stuff like pulling weather for the destination and suggesting what to bring. I start by fixing the thing that was driving me crazy: responsiveness. Then I clean up the UI to match my Canva design way more closely, and I add the missing flow piece—a button that only becomes clickable once the location and date range are selected. After that, I move to the fun (and painful) part: weather integration. I try OpenWeatherMap, realize I need to pay (no thanks), and switch to a different free Weather API. Once the temps actually make sense (I’m Singaporean, I know what “normal” looks like), I wire up dynamic packing items based on conditions—rain gear for rainy weather, winter layers if it’s cold, and warm-weather stuff like shorts and sunscreen when it’s hot. I finish by building collapsible categories with checkboxes, remove/add item controls, and a working end-to-end flow. It’s not AI yet, but it gets the job done—and in part three I’ll try to make it even smarter and publish it properly.
