About This Video

It’s 7:00 a.m., I’m half asleep, and I just want coffee that tastes the same every single day. But my routine was chaos: some days it’s too strong, some days it’s weak, and other days it’s just… off. So I did what I always do when something annoys me—I built an app. In this video, I code a simple step-by-step coffee website that guides me through brewing and tracks the stuff that actually matters: brew time, temperature, and water-to-milk ratio, so I don’t have to do mental math or bounce between a notes app and a timer. Before coding, I used Mapify (the sponsor) to brain-dump the idea and get a clean feature plan instead of another messy Notion doc. For design, I tried Figma, hated it, and switched to a Canva “hack” to generate a warm, minimalist background and screens for each step (latte-style flow first). Then I built the site in Next.js because I wanted the fastest path to deployment on Vercel, and I kept it “make it work first, then make it pretty.” The core feature is a countdown timer that auto-starts on the French press water step, plus a ding sound when it’s done. I shipped it, tested it on my phone in my kitchen, found a couple of rough edges (fonts + accidentally deploying a 10-second timer), and still counted it as a personal win: a real app that makes my mornings smoother in under an hour.
