About This Video

Today I basically took my old Pomodoro timer app and admitted the obvious: it worked, but it was super static and not even remotely cozy. The UI was “fine”, but it didn’t have that aesthetic vibe I actually want when I’m trying to focus. Also, I’d been using a quotes API for a month and realized I genuinely didn’t care about most of the quotes—so even if I read them, I wasn’t feeling inspired or productive. Pinterest had way better motivational lines, so I decided I’d rather hand-pick quotes instead of pulling random ones. I started by designing the whole thing in Canva, heavily inspired by Studio Ghibli-style cozy study rooms (I used ChatLM + Midjourney to generate the art because it gets the job done for quick experiments). Then I rebuilt the UX: instead of typing a time input, I made a slider that snaps from 5 minutes up to 60, because realistically I’m not doing 3-hour Pomodoros. From there I coded it up, fixed bugs (like the timer jumping weirdly), and added the stuff that makes it feel alive: subtle light flickers, a warmer lamp glow, and CSS “clouds” drifting across the screen. End result: a cute radio-style timer UI, a stop button, and a Pomodoro app I actually want to use to stay productive.
