About This Video

In this video I give my full, unsponsored “Rest in Piece Duo” review of Duolingo—basically my whole journey with the app and where I think it shines (and where it really doesn’t). I walk through how I started using Duo, how the placement tests feel in practice, and what I think about the current lesson pathway design. I also get super specific about which languages I personally think Duolingo is best for, especially compared to the ones I’m studying right now (Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian, and German). I spend a big chunk of the video on my biggest frustration: grammar. I talk about why the way grammar is handled can leave you guessing, and why some of the sentence examples are… honestly wild. But I’m not just here to complain—I share exactly how I use Duolingo effectively as a tool inside a bigger routine, including how I approach review, how I treat it like practice rather than “a full course,” and what I do when I need real explanations. I also cover non‑Latin scripts, the unique lesson styles, pronunciation/sounds, and why I still keep Duolingo in my rotation today—plus a new idea I’d love to see Duo implement.
