Welcome back to JR Pro Shop Vids. In this one, I’ve got a whole lot of talent in the building—Gootz, and yeah… G is here too—and we’re joined by PBA major champ Francois Lavoie. We put together a fun (and honestly way tougher than it sounds) challenge that mixes striking with pinpoint spare shooting. We’re on a 43-foot sport pattern, Dead Man’s Curve, so it’s not your typical house shot where you can just freewheel it and look like a hero. Here’s the twist: we bowl in a Baker-style format where every other frame we’re actually bowling on each other’s score, and when you’re on the other guy’s game your job is to get the least pins possible—low ball “golf” style—without just dumping it in the gutter. So you’re bouncing between “I need a strike right now” and “please just give me a 1-1,” which messes with your feet, your eyes, and your rhythm. The big takeaway? This is an unreal way to practice staying in the moment—strike shot, spare shot, pressure, reset—one frame at a time. And when you’re up against the best spare shooter in the world, you learn real quick that perfection is hard to beat.
