About This Video

In this video, I finally got to throw something brand new for the channel: KR Strikeforce bowling balls. We tested the Rise Solid and the Rise Pearl—two entry-level reactive options that we’ve never thrown before—and I wanted to see if they were just “starter balls” or if they actually had some real use when lanes get dry. I took them onto a lane with a bit of wear (perfect for this kind of gear), played a little straighter than usual, and paid attention to shape, control, and how much they could really cover when I moved left. My biggest takeaway: these aren’t heavy-oil tournament balls, and I’m not going to sugar coat that. But for the majority of bowlers—especially on drier lanes, older centers, or even wood—these Rise balls make a lot of sense. The Solid was super smooth and rolly, while the Pearl surprised me with how far it got down lane and how sharp it was once it saw friction. The Pearl even hooked a touch more than my Storm Typhoon on this lane, which honestly shocked me. If you’ve got slower ball speed, you’re rev-dominant, or you just want control without hooking the whole lane, this one-two combo is a really affordable way to build a smart bag.
