About This Video

In this one I put the brand new Storm Next Factor (asym pearl) through a test that actually matters: I threw it on a 44ft EJ Tacket pattern that was already cooked from league (12–15 games of traffic), then I moved right over to a true fresh buffer pair that had zero shots on it. I also brought out the RST Hyperdrive Pearl and the Phaze II Pearl so you can see where the Next Factor fits, side-by-side, on the exact same lines. On the burn, the Next Factor was money from around 4th/4.5 arrow because it gave me the most room for error. It’s strong, but it doesn’t “checkmark” off the dry like the Phaze II Pearl can—this one rounds it off smoother, which is huge when there’s over/under. Compared to my Hyperdrive Pearl (mega backend for me), the Next Factor is a step down in hook and response, and that’s a good thing when you want control. On the fresh, it was honestly too clean and too jumpy off the spot unless I got way right and/or really tamed my release. That’s the takeaway: these pearls are built for when the fronts and mids have some wear. For true fresh long oil, I’m still starting with something earlier and smoother (S2 / original Phaze II), then moving into pieces like the Next Factor later in the block.
