In this video I finally got the Storm Phaze II Pearl on the lanes, and yeah… it’s real. I took it out on a 44-foot pattern that was already a little burnt up and threw it head-to-head with the two other newest symmetrical pearl releases from the other brands: the Roto Grip Rockstar Amped and the 900 Global Ember. The goal was simple—same category, subtle differences—so you can actually pick the right one for your bag instead of guessing. Right away, the Phaze II Pearl surprised me with how much it hooked fresh out of the box. Compared to the Ember, I saw the Phaze II Pearl as a little more mid-lane and rollier, with more “teeth” and more total boards covered. The Ember was the longest and the sharpest—more length and more sideways pop down lane—while the Rockstar Amped sat in the middle: smoother off the spot, more forward, and super controllable when the lanes get cliffed. My quick breakdown: Phaze II Pearl = most hook and strongest overall shape, Amped = easiest to get to the pocket for score, Ember = most angular down lane.
