It’s league vlog day with Brando, and we’re bowling on the 42 ft Gateway Arch pattern (higher volume, 6:1 ratio). It’s still “league-ish,” but there’s less forgiveness in the middle than normal and basically no free hook outside the first arrow—so you’ve got a range to play in, but you’ve got to be close. We start with a bit of chaos (lane one is broken), move to 17/18, and I get right into testing the brand new Hammer Black Widow Dynasty at 2000 grit. On the fresh, the Widow Dynasty was money for me. It’s duller and rolly enough to handle oil, but it’s also cleaner than I expected downlane and has noticeably more backend than the Widow 3.0. For overall hook I’d put it around an 8 or 9 out of 10, and the shape honestly reminds me of a dull Widow Mania—more angle and more recovery when I can move left, which is exactly what this building likes. Once the lanes dried up and the right lane started getting flat/deflecty, it was time to bail. That’s where the brand new Hammerhead Pearl came in at box finish. It let me stay more parallel, soften up, and get the ball into a roll sooner without forcing the big angle. End result: a 966 series (248, 248, 190-something, then 278 with the front nine), plus a really clear picture of where the Dynasty and Hammerhead Pearl fit in league transition.
