About This Video

In this threeinut review, I take a quick but detailed look at the Rapido N scale 3/4 dome lounge car in Southern Pacific (SP). I run through the unboxing first—simple setup with the inner plastic, a manual, a Rapido sticker, the car itself, and the included magnetic wand. Rapido also released these in HO, but here I’m focused on what you actually get and what stands out in N scale in three minutes or less. Out of the box, my camera honestly struggles to capture the majesty of these models, but you can still see why they’re special. You’ve got separately applied grabs, diaphragms, semi-scale couplers, corrugated sides, and those stirrups that really pop. The real star of the show is the interior: multi-color seating, an upper and lower level, plus crisp dome glazing that looks the part. Rapido also nails the underbody detail—tons of equipment modeled underneath—yet the cars are still built to operate well. I also demo the factory interior lighting in the dark, and with a simple wave of the magnetic wand you can switch the lights off, which is a really slick feature for operators and display folks alike.
