About This Video

In this short review, I’m taking a look at the Rapido Trains HO scale Trenton Works 6637 cubic foot boxcar in BC Rail lettering, and I’m comparing the “as delivered” version to the “faded” version. I unbox the faded car first because it’s honestly my favorite—I'm not great at weathering and I haven’t really started doing much of it yet, so the faded finish gives you a nice base and foundation if you want to take it further. Rapido includes an exploded parts diagram with over 60 parts listed, plus a little prototype history manual. These cars were the lifeblood of British Columbia Railway (BC Rail) starting in the early 90s, with 150 delivered initially, and the model really tries to capture that. Up close, you get a ton of door detail (the latch and stops are crazy), separately applied ladders, brake wheel and chain detail, a coupler cut bar, and FRA-style reflective stripes represented on the sides. Between the fine printing, road-specific details, and how sharp the overall mechanism and detailing looks, it’s just a beautiful freight car—nicely done, and a solid add for Canadian and modern-era rosters.
