Well, hey guys—welcome back. In this video I’m unboxing and testing the brand-new Bachmann HO Acela II train set, plus the six add-on cars you can buy individually to build out a longer consist. I walk through what you actually get in the box: the concrete-tie oval track (81" x 45"), the speed controller and wiring, the two Acela power cars (one powered, one dummy), and the three included passenger cars. Since I don’t have a spot with good lighting to set up the full oval, I set up a straight section of the included track on my layout so you can still see it run and get a feel for the set. I go car-by-car on the details—roof escape hatch markings, perforation/rivet-style body paneling, truck and underbody detail, and the interior lighting. On the powered unit I show the nose detailing, lighting, access panels, see-through grill area, and the sprung pantograph, plus the little switch under the hatch that lets you select pantograph pickup. Then I demonstrate the connections between cars (male/female ends and the 4-pin plug setup) and run it on DC so you can see how the lighting behaves—bright at higher speed and dimmer as you slow down. With the six add-ons plus the three in the set, you end up with nine cars and two power units, and it’s a very cool modern passenger consist.
