About This Video

In this YouTube Short I’m back in N scale with Broadway Limited’s EMD E8s and E9s, picking up right where my E7 short left off. These are Paragon 4 DC/DCC sound locomotives, and I run through what you actually get in the box and what to look for on the models. They come as individual units or in AB two-packs, and the unboxing is straightforward: clear lid, foam, soft plastic, and you’re in. Little tip—check under the foam, because that’s where Broadway Limited hides the manual and the one-year limited warranty card. From there I highlight the details that really stand out on these E-units: etched metal windshield wipers, separately applied parts, molded rivet detail, metal side grilles, lift lugs, and grab irons. I show multiple roadnames (Santa Fe, C&O, Pennsylvania Railroad, and UP AB sets), including roadname-specific touches like the PRR antennas. On the lighting side you get directional lighting with Mars lights and headlights, plus cab lights that shut off at speed step three. I wrap up by letting you hear the bell and horn variations, and I recommend checking them out at your online retailers or local brick-and-mortar hobby shops.
