Champion Generator Starts and Dies After a Few Seconds

This Champion Dual Fuel generator belongs to a neighbor. I was helping another young small engine mechanic with this repair. He said the engine would start and run perfectly for a second and then shut down. My immediate though was the low oil sensor and helped him bypass that. The engine then ran, only to expose the much bigger problem. Can we fix it?
