About This Video

I just spent over $500 on ear tips, graphed 80+ of them, and built a Google Sheet/database so tip rolling stops being a total pain in the ass guessing game. The whole point is to reduce variables: your ear anatomy is different, every tip is different (size/shape/bore/material), and every IEM nozzle is different. So I break the entire tip situation into three buckets that actually matter: tonality (how it graphs/sounds), fit (shallow vs deep, bore size, grip/material), and adaptability (how well it molds across different ears and nozzles). For tonality, I measured everything on the same coupler/setup and used KBear K07 as the baseline—think of it as the “Harman target of tips” in the sense that it’s the most common reference point, not “the best.” Then we get into fit: ideally you want the deepest fit you can get for smoother treble and less distortion, and you generally want a wide bore for a more open sound—assuming your ears/nozzle size allow it. I also cover grip strength (sticky liquid/medical silicone tends to hold seal better), why metal-stem tips can prevent the bore from collapsing, and how foams smooth treble but can nerf bass texture and dynamics. I end with a checklist so you can pick tips smarter instead of buying 30 random packs and coping.
