In this video I speedrun four new planars that somehow *don’t* sound the same (rare for ChiFi): AAV CJ20, Hidizs MP145 Pro, Letshuoer Astralis, and Kefine Arnar. I break down their core tuning, what genres they actually work for, and the “watch out” issues—because planar hype is fun until you buy a set that’s fatiguing or just doesn’t match your library. The CJ20 is basically a better S12: smooth bright-leaning, airy, big stage, strong micronuance/treble detail, and clean bass transients—just be careful because the treble/3k can still run hot for sensitive ears (K-pop/EDM can get overly saturated and thin). MP145 Pro goes cleaner and more midrange/vocal-focused with sharp imaging and great layering; I only recommend the red nozzles because the others get shouty. Astralis is the “best balance” pick: fifth-gen 15.5mm planar with the best bass texture/impact, a sub-bass focused all-rounder vibe, and solid dynamics that work with basically any genre—though vocals could use more focus when the sub-bass gets forward. Arnar is the dark coffee set: smoother, thicker, heavier midbass, intimate stage, scales the best but needs louder listening; not a value/tech monster, more an acquired taste for people who hate fatigue.
