In this video I’m basically doing what I always do when the hype train shows up: bringing everyone back to reality. I cover three “hyped” sets and where they actually land in terms of value—starting with the ZiiGaat Horizon. The Horizon is a meta-inspired allrounder (think Astral/Meta/Crescent DNA), but the main difference is the treble: it’s the most prominent, sparkly, and “OCD-like” in transients out of the bunch. It’s technical for the price with strong detail retrieval and imaging, but the trade-off is it can get a bit energetic for some people and it doesn’t scale well if you like to crank volume. Bass is clean and controlled, just don’t expect crazy slam/rumble. Then I get into the Letshuoer S12 Ultra, which is the smoothest S12 they’ve made. It’s a sub-bass boosted, dynamic allrounder that’s less bright and less “planar-like” than OG S12/S12 Pro, with the best bass texture and impact in the S12 lineup. It’s not a pure value monster for raw detail, but I’d personally take the slightly smoother, more musical tuning for longer listening. I also touch on the Yu9 Que/CH situation: it’s a solid balanced/scaling set, but based on my time with it I think it’s overhyped at $400—especially when cheaper scaling options exist.
