About This Video

In this video I review the Hype 4 MK2 (Moss) at $400, and yeah—this thing is kind of stupid for the money. The main headline is detail: it’s pulling out micro-nuances at a level that’s legitimately in the “why does this feel like my way more expensive sets?” territory. The imaging is super OCD-pinpoint, separation/layering is fantastic, and the treble extension feels like it just keeps going—cymbals get that extra prolonged decay with a crispy, tingly splash that can be addicting on the right tracks. But it’s not a free win. Tuning-wise, the MK2 is basically limit-testing how much treble energy you can push before it gets fatiguing, so scaling isn’t great and this is not a “crank it up” set. I’m listening around mid volume (roughly 65–70 dB) and even lower on energetic K-pop/J-pop because those can sound thin, bright, and over-highlighted. Bass is tight, quick, and controlled but lighter in impact/rumble, and vocals are clear and comfortable but not a vocal-centric powerhouse. I also compare it to the OG Hype 4 (bassy all-rounder vs this treble-leaning clean set), Dunu Braindance (MK2 is basically what it should’ve been), NiceHCK Rockies (smoother/EST misty vibe), XENNS Top Pro (more vocal-focused), and all-rounders like Mega5EST/Volare. If all you care about is max detail per dollar, MK2 is an easy rec—just make sure your library can handle the extra treble energy.
