About This Video

In this video, I break down how I learn to code for both school and work using Obsidian as my “coding second brain.” I start with the prep work: setting up a clean place to capture lessons, docs, and assignments so I’m not juggling random tabs and scattered notes. Then I show how I organize coding notes for structured learning—think courses, classes, or a clear syllabus—so each concept builds on the last and I can actually find what I need when it’s time to review or ship something. From there, I walk through my actual note-taking process in two modes. For structured learning, I focus on turning lectures and modules into atomic notes, linking key ideas, and keeping examples close to the concepts they prove. Then I cover memorization using spaced repetition and flashcards—because coding isn’t just “understanding,” it’s recall under pressure. Finally, I switch to self-learning: how I take notes when I’m exploring a new language, framework, or tool on my own, plus concrete examples of what those notes look like so you can copy the structure and make it yours.
