In this video, I install osTicket on a local Windows 11 machine using XAMPP, so beginners can set up a proper helpdesk system without getting stuck. I’m using Windows 11 Pro (24H2) for the demo, and I first quickly check the official recommendations—osTicket needs PHP to run the code and MySQL for the database. You can install it on IIS too, but I’m using Apache through XAMPP because it’s well integrated with PHP applications and keeps the whole process simple. I walk you through downloading and installing XAMPP (I used PHP 8.2), starting Apache and MySQL from the XAMPP Control Panel, and confirming everything is working via the default page and phpMyAdmin. Then I clean the htdocs folder, download osTicket core v1.18.2, extract it, and copy the files into htdocs. After that, I fix the common installer warnings by enabling required PHP extensions in php.ini (like gd, imap, intl, and opcache) and restarting services. Finally, I resolve the missing config file issue by renaming the sample config, create the database and a dedicated user in phpMyAdmin, and complete the installer. I also show the client portal and the staff/admin portal (/scp) and remind you to secure the config file permissions immediately.
