This weekend I went over to Sentosa to check out Singapore’s “new” newly-opened/refurbished shopping mall at Resorts World Sentosa (the one I kept calling Reef/Weave in the video). We literally decided to be tourists in our own country, refused to pay $3 for the tram, and walked in the heat to see if the mall is actually worth the trip. Along the way I also pointed out what’s around (USS is still open, and the new Oceanarium/sea aquarium area is supposed to open end of July), so you can plan your Sentosa day better. Inside the mall, my biggest takeaway is: it’s very spacious and the architecture feels quite nice, but a lot of stores weren’t open yet, so it can feel pretty empty depending on when you go. There are still some familiar names like CHAGEE and Tian Tian (but I heard the prices here are a bit more premium), plus spots like Jumbo, Menya Musashi, and even the Harry Potter: Visions of Magic retail area where you can see butterbeer stuff for free. My honest recommendation: if you want the full experience, come end of July/August when more shops (and the Oceanarium) are open—then it’ll be way more worth your time.
