About This Video

In this video, I did a little solo coffee hunt while working and tried a bunch of Singapore “local coffee” brands that CBD people always end up drinking. Of course I can’t forget the legends like Ya Kun and Toast Box, but I also wanted to explore the more “CBD worker” options like High Coffee (Hong Lim), Generation Coffee (also Hong Lim), and Local Coffee People (my day-to-day go-to because it’s so convenient). I rated them based on strength, taste, value, and the coffee-to-water ratio, because honestly that’s what matters when you’re trying to survive a work day. My biggest takeaway: High Coffee was my favourite overall. I queued 45 minutes for it (yes, 45 minutes) and got kopi si kosong iced for $2.10, and it surprised me because it looked super dark but wasn’t bitter. The milk felt more aromatic and kind of nutty, and the ratio was really balanced—good if you don’t like your coffee too gao. Generation Coffee tasted very traditional and quite strong (might be too much if you’re not a frequent coffee drinker), while Local Coffee People wins on value and convenience because it’s cheap and more diluted, which is actually my preference for daily coffee.
