About This Video

In this video, I switched things up and filmed my food episode on location at Amoy Street Food Centre—on a very crowded Friday, no less. The moment I reached, I was already stressed because it was packed at around 11:30am, and I was basically speed-running lunch: find food fast, get it fast, and hopefully secure a seat without people staring at me while I vlog. I ended up heading to Level 2 and went for the shortest queue (because survival mode), and ordered Sarawak kolo mee. I got the $6.50 bowl and honestly, I always come Amoy to eat this kind of kolo mee texture—chewy noodles, decent portion, plus you get the steam wantan, fried wantan, and char siew. For $6.50, I genuinely think it’s very worth, even though halfway I was like… maybe $6.50 is a bit too much because it was a lot. After that, I went hunting for the famous curry puff (yes, I got lost because it’s on Level 1) and grabbed a kopi kosong from Daylight Coffee for $1.90. First sip I didn’t love it, but second and third try was not bad—more watered down and not too kaw, which I actually prefer since strong coffee can give me a headache. Total damage: $10.40, super affordable, and honestly Amoy still has so many hidden gems I want to revisit.
