Hello my friends—it’s Kelly. In this dining room refresh, I’m not decorating “hard” for summer as much as I’m setting the room up so it can transition into fall with just a few simple tweaks. This space had been sitting untouched for most of the year (and even held our old couch for a while), so I started by clearing everything out and giving myself a clean slate. My goal was to make it feel cozy and welcoming again—using what I already have, shopping my own home, and leaning into pieces that hold real family memories. I styled the sideboard by mimicking the height I love at Christmas (I usually do two three-foot trees), but this time I used two lamps I found in other rooms. From there, I layered in my inherited silver pieces—even a little tarnish, because I truly love that worn, historic look—plus blue ginger jars and simple florals that can be swapped out later. I also moved furniture around (I do this often!) by switching side tables between rooms to get a fresh look without spending money. For the dining table, I kept it extremely simple with my classic linen runner and a big Michaels pot (an Anthro-style dupe) filled with a summer floral mix—plus my best tip for faux stems: intertwine them so nothing looks like it’s “sticking out” on its own. And I’d love your thoughts on my design dilemma too—I’m really considering painting the upper wall navy for a little depth and drama.
