In this video I review the FiiO UTWS5 2025 Edition, basically an audiophile ear-hook that turns almost any IEM into a wireless earbud. I’ve been using it with my Letshuoer Cadenza 4, and the big reason this “2025” refresh exists is simple: the old UTWS5 had copper contact points that could rust from sweat. FiiO fixed that by switching to a wireless charging coil inside the case, so there are no physical contacts to corrode. Other than that, don’t expect a new DAC/chip or major internal changes—this is mainly a durability and usability upgrade (and the software feels a bit more polished). I also go through the FiiO app features like battery protection (charging to ~85%), game mode, button mappings, EQ/PEQ, channel balance, and codec support. Codec-wise it’s stacked: LDAC, LHDC, aptX Adaptive (with Snapdragon Sound benefits), plus AAC. Battery life surprised me—I got around 6 hours 15 minutes even at max-quality settings (LDAC 990 kbps, LHDC max, aptX Adaptive up to 860 kbps) at about 30% volume with FLAC files. Sound stays neutral and clean—very close to wired—though bass attack/decay is a tad blunter versus a proper dongle DAC. I also cover comfort, ambient mode (useful but not AirPods-level), mic sample, and why I still recommend it at $159 if you want convenient wireless IEMs.
