In this video I review the FiiO KA15, and honestly it’s probably my favourite dongle DAC of this year—mainly because of the price-to-performance ratio and the feature set you’re getting under $100. I quickly show the specs on-screen (you can pause and read), then I go through the physical overview: the included case is genuinely nice, the cable is thin but soft and easy to stack, and the KA15 itself has this retro cassette/Walkman vibe that I really like. The screen/menu system is also packed: filters (I mostly used NOS), EQ, gain/volume modes, key modes, Class AB vs Class H, brightness, rotation, and even voltage/current display themes. The “hidden feature” I talk about is the mic enable/disable support on the 3.5mm jack—this is rare even on more expensive dongles, and it’s super practical if you actually take calls with an IEM mic cable. Sound-wise I’d call the KA15 neutral yet natural and a bit analog; it doesn’t really color bass or treble, but the bass attack/decay is slightly blunted versus something like the iBasso DC07 Pro. Where it really surprised me is soundstage and imaging—paired with brighter sets like the 7Hz Timeless AE, it stays spacious and less fatiguing than a more strictly neutral presentation. I also cover battery draw and comparisons: KA17 is more powerful but hotter and more power hungry, while KA15 “sips” power depending on load. For most people, KA15 will satisfy 99% of what you want from a dongle DAC, especially if you want a smoother pairing for bright planars and you care about that mic support.
