In this video I review Kiwi Ears’ first Bluetooth headphone, the Kiwi Ears Ardor, and I go over everything from what you get in the box to how it actually sounds day to day. Inside the box you get a hard case, the headphone, a 3.5mm analog cable, and a USB-C to USB-A cable for charging. Build-wise it’s mostly plastic with stainless steel headbands, and comfort was generally good for me with average clamp and nice yoke movement. I do think the big Kiwi Ears logo is a bit loud, and the headband is thin enough that I noticed a hotspot on top after about 1–2 hours. The pleather pads are soft and squishy, but I personally got some sweat buildup and it can feel a bit stuffy. I also cover ANC and transparency: for around $100 the ANC is average—low engine hum gets reduced pretty nicely, but speech and horns still come through. Transparency mode sounds digitally “fake,” which is basically what I expect at this price, so don’t go in expecting AirPods Max or Sony XM5 levels. Sound quality is surprisingly decent but a bit bright out of the box: sub-bass has punch and rumble, mid-bass is a little lacking, male vocals come through well, and female vocals/J-pop/K-pop can really shine—sometimes to the point of being shouty at higher volume. Treble is the main issue for me: fine at low volume, but mean and uneven as you push it. There’s no app EQ, so I suggest EQing externally by cutting ~4–6k by 3–4 dB and adding a mid-bass boost around 250–300 Hz.
