About This Video

In this video I review the KZ ZS12 Pro X (the tuning switch version) and basically answer the big question: is it just another random $50 KZ drop, or is it actually a strong budget pick. I go over the build and accessories first—this one has a really clean all-black, fully metal shell that I genuinely like, plus the usual simple KZ packaging. I also talk about the included cable (I got the mic version): it’s fine for the price, but it tangles and I honestly expected a bit better at $50. For sound, I spend most of the review on the tuning switches and what actually worked for me. Out of the box it can come across bright, and I ended up listening with switch 1 and switch 2 ON. With switch 3 ON it got too boomy and muddy, and I felt like the bass lost its tactility. Switch 4, in my unit at least, didn’t seem to reduce treble at all—so it felt like a dummy switch. With the right settings, I found the bass surprisingly good for the MSRP, female vocals were quite good, and the treble was decent for me as a low-volume listener (foam tips helped tame the upper mids/treble).
