Welcome and thank you for joining us on this very wet trip! In this episode I take my giant 2‑story tent back out for a proper test—heavy rain, winter darkness, and that constant drum of water on the fly. I add an extra roof topping with transparent windows (how cool is that) so I can sit inside and actually watch the rain. I tighten everything up so the water runs off smoothly without pooling, and I set up Ted’s favourite camping dog bed so he can roam a bit and then settle in. This trip is all about staying cosy and organised in bad weather. I run my cooking and lights off the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus, and it makes it easy to use an induction cooktop and kettle even when it’s pouring. I cook Ted’s food first (Ted tax paid), then my usual salad (sorry… it’s always the same lately), and marinated chicken. Things get a bit hectic racing the fading daylight to build the second-story platform—one leg drops because I rushed the rope—but I fix it inside. Later I hear a huge crack… a tree falls nearby, so I go check it and then re-check my spot. After a warm meal, tea, a mini fireplace, and beer o’clock, I tuck into the tent with the little EcoFlow RIVER 3 to charge my notebook and camera batteries. In the morning it’s still wet, Ted is on kangaroo watch, the creek is okay, and I pack up with Kelly’s awesome lunchboxes before heading back to reality.
