It’s a gloomy, overcast day and I’m back in beautiful Maleny—one of our favourite spots—with the Jeep packed tight and a GIANT tent in the back. I’ve set this tent up a few times now, so I’m getting better at it… even when I mess up and face it the wrong direction (no worries, I just turn it). Ted is on supervision duty as always, and once the pump does the initial work, I build the platform and start opening what feels like a million windows. The reward? Unreal 360° rainforest mountain views everywhere I look. After I tuck the Jeep in, I make it cozy inside and smash an amazing lunch box Kelly prepared (she’s so talented—her channel is “Spicy Hippo”). As the sun drops it gets chilly fast, so I grab my jacket and fire up a small tabletop fireplace/stove, chopping wood down to size so it fits. I also share today’s sponsor, “The Ultimate Guide to Rebuilding a Civilization”—I genuinely love the drawings, the quality, and the cozy coffee-table-book vibe. Dinner is steak (Ted is very happy), a salad I can’t stop making, a Bavarian German beer, then bed and a starlapse. In the morning I make a Japanese drip coffee I picked up in Tokyo, enjoy that fresh coffee smell, and slowly pack up—each time I pack this tent, I’m mastering it a little more. Then it’s off to the next adventure.
