Welcome to another adventure with me and Ted :) For this episode I went to a campsite I absolutely love—tucked away in the jungle right next to a creek. It’s a little different because you can’t get there directly by car, so I packed everything into my backpack. Just to be clear: this is not a “backpack wild camp” or “survival camp” at all. My Jeep is still close, I just prefer having everything ready instead of running back and forward. Because rain was in the forecast (and the clouds looked pretty dark), I started with a quick rain shelter and then set up my Night Cat single tent on a cot. Being off the wet, sandy ground was perfect, and I used dead palm leaves like a carpet to stay clean and dry. The setup was straight forward, the materials looked high quality, and that leg mechanism made snapping the cot together way easier than most cots I’ve used. Best part: it’s extra long—I'm 6.3 foot and still had space left—and of course it got Ted’s seal of approval. From there it’s pure rainy ASMR: a raging creek after storms, fresh kimbap from Kelly (Spicy Hippo), a cosy fire, steak for me and Ted, and a German beer to finish the day. With a storm forecast overnight I moved the tent to higher ground, then woke up to a misty, crisp morning and an urgent need for coffee.
