About This Video

When we hit winter break (end of December into early January), I always do what I call a homeschool mid-year checkup. Because I plan our year in advance, this is my built-in moment to pause, look at everything with fresh eyes, and make sure we’re still on track—academically, logistically, and realistically for the season we’re in. In this video I walk you through the exact way I go through our homeschool from top to bottom, so I’m not guessing in January—I’m making small, smart adjustments that keep the rest of our year smoother. I share six practical ways I evaluate what’s working and what needs a tweak: checking our progress against the plan, looking at curriculum pacing, tightening up schedules and routines, and making sure our day-to-day systems still fit our real life. This isn’t about scrapping everything mid-year—it’s about auditing what I already set up, keeping what’s effective, and fixing the friction points before they turn into burnout. If you’re feeling behind, overwhelmed, or just a little “off,” this mid-year reset is the easiest way to regain clarity and confidence for the rest of your homeschool year.
