In this video I’m talking about the thing I think we forget as we get older: creativity isn’t a magical power that only a few people get. Every single one of us was born creative. Somewhere along the way we start linking creativity to performance and judgment—“am I good enough?”—but to me, creativity was never meant to be judged. It’s expression. It’s taking something inside you (an idea, a feeling, an emotion) and letting it come to life outside of you, whether that’s art, writing, cooking, filming, or simply problem solving your way through life. I also share why creativity matters so much beyond hobbies: it reduces stress, pulls you out of overthinking and into flow, reconnects you with yourself, builds confidence, and helps you see possibilities where you used to see obstacles. Then I take you through my own journey—from childhood sketching, to studying art and design at Fremantle Prison, to trying graphic design (and realising it felt too regimented for me), to years where creativity sat in the background while I worked and raised my daughter. Van life didn’t “make” me an artist, but it gave me the time, space, and clarity to remember that part of myself again—and YouTube has become a huge creative outlet in that same way.
