In this video I take you with me on a solo female camping adventure to Stockton Lake near Collie (about 2.5 hours southeast of Perth). It’s been on my bucket list for ages because the water is that unreal, can’t-describe-it blue, and I really wanted to get my SUP out on it. I show you what the campground is like, where I park up for the view, and my simple van routines — from shutting the door when the mozzies come out to enjoying the fact that in a van I don’t really have to “set up” much at all. But the heart of this one is what it’s really like doing it alone as a woman — the safety thoughts, the confidence building, and the baby steps that got me here. I talk about how I actually slept better camping than I ever did stealthing in the city, how I trust my gut when people arrive, and why I think the fear is often the unknown. If you’re nervous, I share ways to ease into it: start somewhere familiar, try a busier campground if that helps, even just go for the day first. You are so capable — and the peace, solitude, and personal growth out here is honestly magic.
