There’s a lot of driving involved in what I do, and this one started as a proper work-day mission — early start, dirty windscreen, a “horrible road,” and a gentle reminder to take it easy when a roo jumped out a bit closer than I’d like. But the payoff was finally making it into Lucky Bay Campground in Esperance (Cape Le Grand National Park) — one of those places that’s iconic and also ridiculously hard to book. In this video I take you through what it’s actually like staying at Lucky Bay: how I booked it (the “next day, next day, next day” trick on the Parks WA site), what the facilities are like (hot showers, flushable toilets, kitchen sinks with hot water, bins), and why it felt like five-star accommodation to come in from the beach and have a hot shower. I also share my honest take on expectations — I came for kangaroos on the beach and didn’t see them at first, but the campground and bay completely surprised me with calm conditions, crystal clear water, SUP time, snorkeling vibes, and a coastal hike that I definitely started in thongs (and ended up barefoot on the rocks).
