Traveling solo as an Australian female van lifer along the Waterfall Circuit to Nandroya Falls was an exhilarating and serene adventure. Starting from Cairns, I packed up my van and set off towards the Atherton Tablelands, soaking in the scenic landscapes as I drove. The winding roads, surrounded by lush rainforest and rolling hills, set the perfect tone for the day’s exploration. When I arrived at the trailhead for Nandroya Falls, I was greeted by a peaceful, well-marked path that led deep into the rainforest. The hike to the falls is about 3 kilometers round trip, with towering trees and ferns lining the trail. As I walked, the sound of water rushing through the forest grew louder, adding excitement to the journey. Upon reaching Nandroya Falls, I was in awe. The waterfall drops in a stunning, two-tiered cascade into a clear pool, surrounded by rock formations and dense greenery. The secluded location made it feel like a hidden paradise. I spent time taking photos, enjoying the solitude, and taking a dip in the cool water. Traveling solo gave me the freedom to immerse myself in the beauty of the falls at my own pace.
