This is part 1 of my dream home studio series, and for this video I’m focusing on the foundation of everything: the desk setup. If you’ve been watching my channel, you already know I’ve switched desks a lot over the past year, but this time I wanted to commit to an oak theme to make my basement studio feel warmer and more welcoming. I also used the Dream Setup app on Steam to draft the layout before building—some items aren’t perfectly replicated in the app, but it’s been super helpful for planning. The core of the build is the Desky Dual Hardwood Standing Desk in white oak (80x30), and the assembly was straightforward thanks to a clear manual. I went with the dual motor frame for the extra load capacity (over 300 lbs) and the wide height range, plus I added lockable casters because I love being able to move my desk around. My favorite feature is the integrated nine-point cable management with accessible front power, plus USB-C/USB for charging. I also added the matching Desky shelf and drawer for daily items and quick storage, a heavy-duty monitor arm for future ultrawide plans, and finished it off with my LG 32” 4K OLED, Edifier speakers, and my usual keyboard/mouse combo. A couple warnings: the hardwood is heavy and the surface can scratch—be mindful—but overall it’s stable, clean, and exactly the vibe I’m chasing for this studio.
