About This Video

I put together this quick breakdown of the gimbal rig I’ve been using in a few recent videos, because I’m about to get busy and a lot of you have been waiting on the exact parts and how I mounted everything. The base of the build is a DJI RS4 (mine is the non‑Pro), and I’m running the SmallRig DJI RS4 power adapter underneath. It locks into the bottom, gives you DC power, and has mounting points so you can start building out the rig the “camera rig” way instead of keeping it barebones. For handling, I’m using Falcam side handles and I added Falcam F22 plates on both sides so everything stays quick‑release. The big question I keep getting is the V‑mount mount: you’ve basically got two options—use a SmallRig V‑mount mount that sits under the rig, or go with a magic arm. I chose the magic arm to reduce a bit of weight and let me position the battery forward. I also added an F22 plate to the V‑mount so the battery can pop on/off fast. Up front, I mount my Portkeys monitor, but heads up: it’s not super ergonomic straight-on, so I usually shoot at an angle so I can actually see the screen while keeping my hands comfortable. I’m still refining this whole setup to be all quick releases.
