About This Video

It’s been about two years since the DJI RS3 Mini dropped, and in this video I break down what’s actually new with the DJI RS4 Mini—what stayed the same, and whether it’s worth upgrading. I’m specifically looking at this gimbal through the lens of a solo creator: travel, run-and-gun, real estate, weddings—any workflow where light and compact matters but you still want to run a “real” mirrorless setup. And I gotta say, I love the new silver/gray colorway. It looks timeless, and it feels like a refresh compared to the usual gimbal look. Feature-wise, DJI pulled in a bunch of things I like from the RS4/RS4 Pro: the 2nd gen automated axis locks (huge time saver), 3rd gen native vertical shooting with a smarter locking mechanism (especially if you’re using a cage), Teflon coating for smoother balancing, the 4th gen stabilization algorithm (also optimized for vertical), a fine-tuning knob, and quick mode switching on the side. Battery is also better on paper—13 hours vs 10—and faster charging, but it’s still non-detachable, which is a bummer. I also did stabilization tests against my regular RS4 (walking, running, different focal lengths, parallax). My take: RS4 Mini can keep up surprisingly well. You’ll see more jitters when running, but for most creators, you’re getting almost RS4-level performance in a lighter, more compact package—at a price that makes a lot of sense.
