In this video I’m taking you with me over two days while I batch out a big fall restock—about 100 candles… realistically closer to 150. As I’m pouring, labeling, and packaging, I break down my general strategy for getting strong scent performance, because if you sell candles you learn fast: cold throw sells the candle, but hot throw is what keeps customers coming back. I talk through how I choose fragrances (and why I keep coming back to companies like CandleScience, Black Tie Barn, and Stone Candles), but also why “good supplier” doesn’t automatically mean “it’ll work in your wax + wick + vessel.” I share my baseline approach for this specific vessel: I typically run 8–12% fragrance, and I’m usually double-wicking anything over ~3" diameter because two smaller wicks almost always outperform one big wick. I explain why melt pool size and wax temperature matter for hot throw (while still keeping jars under industry-safe temps), plus how I troubleshoot when a scent is weak—starting with 6006 and HTP wicks, moving up sizes, and then swapping waxes (often to CB2) if needed. Along the way I show my cleaning workflow, how I store fragrance to slow oxidation, and the small “scale-up” habits (labels, post-its, piston funnels, relief holes, packaging) that keep production consistent.
