This week I’ve been thinking a lot about how different FPV feels right now compared to the “glory days.” A bunch of you have said, “What a crazy time to get into FPV,” and you’re 150 million% right. Between FAA and FCC pressure, crackdowns, and now bigger global events that can hammer supply chains, it’s not the same carefree hobby it used to be. I’m out here in the woods talking about it because it’s been weighing on me—watching the news, seeing instability, and knowing it can affect everything from parts availability to the cost of living. But I’m not here to do doom and gloom. I’m not comparing hobby problems to what people deal with in real wars—perspective matters. What I am here to do is keep the spirit alive: the DIY builds, the camping trips, the middle-of-nowhere flying with your buddies, and that feeling of building something from scratch just to have fun. If I have to be your Yoda to help you stay in the hobby and find some peace in it, I’ll do that.
