About This Video

In this livestream I’m talking about the new wave of affordable HD FPV systems and why it’s honestly awesome to finally have options besides the usual big-money setups. I’ve been directly testing BetaFPV’s P1 air unit, and for the price it’s been doing really well in real-world flying. Yeah, it has higher latency (around 60ms) and that’s not going to make everyone happy, but for beginners it’s totally flyable—and what’s funny is a lot of field testing is showing it can actually behave better than the Caddx/Walksnail Ascent in certain situations. I also introduce another budget HD option that I haven’t really covered yet: EMAX OpenIPC (Wyvern Link). OpenIPC has historically been more “tinker” heavy, but now we’ve got working VRX hardware and EMAX is pushing it forward with a 200mW VTX. It’s heavier and more expensive than the P1, so the big question is: does it earn that extra cost with better performance and penetration? I also show some practical tips—like the P1 being a strict 5V system (don’t fry it), and how to use a 5V BEC if you want to mount it on a fixed wing or even an RC car. Bottom line: with DJI uncertainty and bans pushing people to look elsewhere, 2026 is shaping up to be the year of “cheap HD,” and I’m lining up side-by-side testing (including fixed wing) to see what actually holds up when you’re out flying for real.
