About This Video

In this video I’m doing a full review and first-flight experience with my very first R/C jet: the Durafly Vampire V3 70mm EDF from HobbyKing. This is a PNF jet, so you add your own receiver, radio, and battery, and I’ll show you the exact “total beginner noob” setup I used—4S 2200mAh, a RadioMaster diversity receiver on my TX15, and an FMS Reflex V3 stabilizer mounted behind the battery. I also cover what’s actually on this airframe (elevator, aileron, throttle, retracts) and what’s not—this jet looks like it has rudder, but it doesn’t. I’m not going to pretend I’m some jet ace here—this is the perspective of a complete EDF beginner on my third flight ever, including the crashes, repairs, and what I learned the hard way. The Vampire V3 surprised me with how well it glides thanks to that big wing, and with stability (Reflex V3 / AS3X-style help) it can be a really forgiving way to get into jets. I also call out the weak points I found: the tail/struts area can break in a hard hit, and the rear “cannon” magnet could be stronger. Bottom line: it looks cool as hell, it’s not crazy expensive, and if it can survive me learning on it, it can survive a lot.
