About This Video

Well, they’re at it again. In this video I’m talking about another scandal in the drone community, and this time it’s DJI. The report is that DJI’s vice president of sales, Mr. Yon Yun, has been detained by Chinese security authorities on bribery-related counts—accepting illicit bribes from non-state folks. And honestly? I’m not super surprised. If you’ve been watching my channel over the past 10 years, you already know I’ve had a weird feeling in my gut about DJI for a long time. We used to be a Tier 2 dealer back when my store in North Carolina was one of the first drone stores in the US, and I saw firsthand how they treat dealers—Tier 1 gets the royal treatment, but mom-and-pop shops trying to help consumers learn to fly? Not so much. Add in the other controversies over the years, including previous internal scams and the broader suspicion from the US government, and it’s just one thing after another. The big question I leave you with is simple: should you even support DJI at all, and was pushing them out of the US actually the right move? Let me know what you think in the comments.
