About This Video

In this video I’m talking about what could be the last “new” DJI drone you can actually buy in the United States: the DJI Avata 360. I’ve covered DJI news and the regulatory mess for years, and the big story here is timing. The Avata 360 reportedly received FCC authorization back in November of 2025, right before the December 22nd regulatory changes that would block future DJI products. Because it slid in before that cutoff, it looks like this one is still going to launch here—at the end of this month. I also break down the leaks and why this drone is interesting for FPV pilots and cinematic creators. The big headline is a built-in 360 camera system that’s rumored to shoot up to 8K spherical video, which means you can focus on flying and pick your framing later in editing. We’re also hearing about a larger 38.6Wh battery (vs 31.8Wh on Avata 2) and surprisingly cheap spare batteries around $70. On top of that, the drone-only price could start around $499, and DJI may include a replaceable lens—something I’m personally excited about because my Insta360 lenses always seem to get scratched. Leaks look great on paper, but the real question is: how’s it going to fly when we get it in our hands?
