About This Video

In this video I’m calling out exactly why we can’t have nice toys in the drone hobby: an influencer flew a drone over SpaceX Starbase in Texas, admitted it on video, and then laughed about getting “in a little trouble.” This happened right after I covered Senate Bill 865 and the Safer Skies Act going into effect—laws that make it a whole lot easier for the federal government to prosecute people for flying over certain federal facilities, launchpads, prisons, and similar protected areas. The timing is insane, and it’s the kind of behavior that fuels more restrictions for the rest of us who actually fly responsibly. I break down what happened in his clip (security Cybertruck, “you’re in a TFR,” demands to delete footage, sheriff showing up) and why this isn’t some cute prank. We’ve already seen real arrests for flying over SpaceX/NASA-type infrastructure—people getting detained, charged, even hit with serious allegations. My takeaway: don’t fly over SpaceX or any launchpad, period. And with moving TFRs and more enforcement tools coming online, the risk is only getting bigger for pilots who think rules don’t apply to them.
